III CLARINET COMPETITION

As part of the Galicia Clarinet Fest 2025, the third edition of the international orchestral repertoire competition “III Galicia Clarinet Competition” will take place.

The objective of the international orchestral repertoire competition is to open the doors and promote the orchestral world to all participants.

The competition is aimed at students who are studying or have completed higher education and master’s degrees or who can prove the necessary level.

Thanks to this competition, they will be able to choose, as a prize, to participate as active musicians during the concert season (2025/2026) in three major international orchestras:

  • Symphony Orchestra of Galicia

  • Royal Philharmonic of Galicia

  • Cannes National Orchestra

Inscriptions

Registration for the contest implies acceptance of these rules. The registration deadline will be July 25, 2025 and will be done by sending the form that will be made available to students (both festival participants and the rest of those interested) through a link through the official pages (website, Instagram and Facebook).

Regarding the nationality of the candidates, in the case of obtaining one of the prizes there are three cases:

  • Musician with Spanish nationality: no formalities are required.

  • Musician with European nationality: a prerequisite is to apply for the residence certificate as a citizen of the European Union (a green document with your NIE).

  • Non-EU musician: it is necessary that he has a temporary residence and work permit in Spain and that it is in force.

In the event that a minor is awarded, he must have the authorization of his father, mother or guardian.

Registration will be free for active students of Galicia Clarinet Fest 2025 and will cost €50 for other interested parties.

Phases and Orchestral Repertoire

The competition will consist of 2 or 3 phases (to be determined depending on the number of registrants), a first phase (day to be determined) through which the candidates to participate in the semi-final phase and the final that will take place on Friday, August 1st will be pre-selected.

The excerpts indicated will be taken from the book ORCHESTER PROBESPIEL Test Pieces for Orchestral Auditions (Hepp/Rohde) for clarinet by the PETERS publisher.

First Phase

All candidates must present themselves at the Lalín auditorium at 9:00 a.m. A draw will be held to determine the order of interpretation. Each candidate will perform the following selection of orchestral solos and the indicated concerto:

The organization will provide selected pieces of works that are not found in the Orchester Probespiel Test Pieces for Orchestral Auditions (Hepp/Rohde) for clarinet by the Peters publisher.

The finalists will perform a selection of solos from the semi-final list.

Results and Awards

The results of the competition will be made public, that same day, at the 9:00 pm concert of the festival and through the digital channels of the Galicia Clarinet Fest .
